Waves on a Slinky

Waves on a Slinky:

The waves which travel along a spring when it is pushed and pulled at one end, are the longitudinal waves. ‘When coils are closer together than normal, compressions (C) are observed in spring. When coils are farther apart than normal, rarefactions (R) are observed. A long flexible spring which can be compressed or extended easily is called slinky.
